Gov Emmanuel explains delay in the urbanization project

Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has shaded light on the slow pace of work witnessed in the on going urbanization project across the state and attributed it to the perennial rain assuring that the contractor would double up the effort to ensure timely completion as the dry season sets in.

Governor Emmanuel made the clarification at Qua Iboe Church, Afaha Eket where he attended the solemnization of holy matrimony between Noami Samuel Udonsak-Daughter of a front - line politician, Dr Samuel Udonsak and the groom Dr Abayomi Akinwala Joseph Olagunju from Osun state and son to Professor Joseph Olagun.

He said that he is working assiduously to lay a solid economic foundation for the state and that the proposed International market at Urua Nka in Eket Local Government Area has been affected by the current exchange rate assuring that alternative negotiation has been made to facilitate the take- off of the project.

Governor Emmanuel explained that Gitto Construction Company has been directed to take over the East West road through the town as earlier designed to connect the other sections of the road project.

He congratulated the couple who are medical practitioners for their decision to tie the nuptial knot.and expressed appreciation to the parents for giving them formal education which he noted, has enabled their children to fend for themselves and start a family as husband and wife.

Governor Emmanuel advised the couple to love and respect each other saying that the Bible has setup a template for the marriage institution and advised them to adhere to the precepts to make a success home.

He used the occasion to call on members of Qua Iboe Church and those in United Evangelical Church, to reconcile the church to one conference in line with the vision of the Irish missionary, Rev. Samuel Bill.

The solemnization drew personalities from all walks of life including the Special Assistant to the President on Legislative matters, Senator Ita Enang, Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (P.D.P) Obong Paul Ekpo, Professor and Mrs Joseph Olagunju and his kinsmen, Paramount Ruler of Eket His Royal Majesty E.C.D Abiah, among others.
